Frequently Asked Questions: PCS Moves at Fort Liberty

What is the difference between a government move (HHG) and a PPM/DITY move at Fort Liberty?

A government move (officially called an HHG shipment) means the government arranges and pays for your move through a contracted carrier like Move Fidelity. A PPM (Personally Procured Move) or DITY move means you arrange and manage your own move and get reimbursed by the government at a percentage of what it would have cost them. Some service members choose PPM for flexibility or to pocket the difference if they move efficiently.

How do I find out my authorized weight allowance for a Fort Liberty PCS move?

Your authorized weight is based on your pay grade and whether you have dependents. You can find the current table in the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). Your S4 or TMO can confirm your specific entitlement when you initiate your move.

Can Move Fidelity store my household goods between PCS dates at Fort Liberty?

Yes. If there is a gap between your move-out date and your reporting date at the new installation, Move Fidelity offers storage at our Fayetteville facility, 160,000+ sq ft of climate-controlled space. Government storage entitlements may apply.

What happens if my household goods are damaged during a PCS move from Fort Liberty?

File a claim through the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) within the required timeframe. Move Fidelity will cooperate fully with the claims process. It’s important to document damage on the DD Form 1840R at delivery, not weeks later.

Does Move Fidelity handle PCS moves to overseas duty stations from Fort Liberty?
